H3R0 (Sci-Fi Short Film)

"H3R0" was my thesis film during my time at Sydney Film School. I decided to edit "H3R0" on Premiere Pro because I grew incredibly comfortable and proficient with the software. We had a shooting ratio of 2:1, and the film ended up being just over 6 minutes. From the ingesting process to the final cut took just over a month. I made a lot of changes to the story during that process which took a lot of sequences to lock down an edit. The visual effects of the entire film were done in a span of 2 weeks. The film screened at Event Cinemas in George Street, Town Hall, Sydney. I feel incredibly privileged to have worked in this project

Visual Effects on the film was primarily dedicated to sky replacements and atmosphere effects. It help set the tone and the mood of the story and was incredibly valuable in establishing this world the character is inhabiting. I was very much inspired by Blade Runner 2049 and the 2009 Sydney dust storm

One of the important aspects of the atmosphere was to give a sense of thickness and density. Therefore it was important to separate the character from the background by masking it out. Then it was a matter of feathering it in to an opaque solid.
